Maram al-Masri is a syrian poet who has lived in Paris since 1982 and whose work has been translated into more than twenty languages, obtaining numerous awards for them. In this particular title the author focuses on talking about women, but not only in the sense of femininity, but in the fact of being a woman in the social context in which she lives. Many of these poems are titled after the names of women and girls whose story or everyday moments of their lives are told, throughout the short poems that al-Masri presents, while playing with the ambivalence of sweetness and brutality.
