This study contributes to the commitment of the Quintana Roo Institute of Culture and the University of Quintana Roo to carry out the description of the linguistic modalities of the Mexican southeast, providing here the details of the Chetumaleño speaking community. The objective is achieved through the description of the phonetic and morpho-syntactical phenomena of the Spanish spoken in Chetumal, completed with the lexical collection of Indo-American origin and the specialized language of the chicleros. Daily communication is evaluated, as well as its use of indigenous terms, considering determining geographical, social and cultural aspects reflected in phonetics, grammar and vocabulary.
