The exhibition series The Brushes of History is a journey through Mexican visual arts and a review of the cultures, ideas and situations that have constituted Mexico. The color reproductions of paintings included in this title allude to the events that took place between the inauguration of the empire of Maximilian of Habsburg and the fall of the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, when the use of the image for political legitimation purposes began to emerge. The work done by Mexican artists in the second half of the XIX century resulted in the enrichment of the national artistic heritage, as well as contributing to the formation of a patriotic sentiment.
