Petrona de la Cruz is the author of various books that have been recognized and delivered in print runs of up to 36,500 copies, as well as being a recipient of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts. She was a pioneer in community theater and found there the means to be able to write about the personal experiences that she has had when being part of the indigenous community, going through marginalization, violence and contempt since she was a child, almost losing her life.
