The author takes as his starting point the night when Francisco Toledo was bitten by a scorpion, to begin a reflection on death and life. In the first half of the book, he describes man as a species and begins a series of questions about our place in nature and our relationship with other species, especially insects. For the second part, a series of illustrations by the Mexican graphic artist are saved, where he portrays insects with various techniques such as ink, watercolor on Japanese paper and mica on paper.
