Melodrama, a genre in Mexican cinema of the Golden Age -which also had an impact on theater and radio- assimilated all the others, imposing itself as a paradigm and guaranteeing the acceptance of bourgeois values. This study investigates the phenomenon that occurred with the generations that lived through the emergence and development of Mexican cinema, in addition to trying to demonstrate the impact on subsequent generations that occurred from the radical change produced in Cuban society with the triumph of the revolution in 1959. The authors invite reflection about the interaction that occurred when both audiences received a cinema that exceeded all expectations in a similar way.
