Product information
This title, part of the collection Gazes in the Dark, covers part of the filmography of the director who, with formal rigor and aesthetic sense, developed the skill to adapt the plots of American film noir to the Mexican environment of the 40's and 50's: a society that is urbanizing and whose elite feels cosmopolitan. Roberto Gavaldón took advantage of the ambiguity of the black movement to explore his thematic obsessions and his subversive spirit. The synthesis of black atmosphere and Mexican reality in his films is recovered here by the author to constitute a fundamental chapter in one of the most transcendent and universal works of Mexican cinema.
