This second volume covers the two-year period (1979-1989) where the process of definitive withdrawal of state participation in the production sector begins, as it was conceived and developed during the previous six-year period. After alleged fraud, the arrest and persecution of officials to justify a reprivatization policy that anticipated neoliberalism that would be applied in other areas of the national economy, there was a collapse in the country's film production. This collapse of cinema is covered here, exploring how the quality of films declined, with some exceptions that worked to dignify the mexican film tradition.
