José María Idiáquez is known for introducing the modern printing press in Oaxaca, coinciding with the decree of freedom of the press for the Spanish-speaking world, on November 12, 1810. This title is divided into seven parts: the pages dedicated to the first observers , Nicolás León and José Toribio Medina, to the history of printing in Oaxaca; an essay by Juan Pascoe on the possible development of the printing press in Oaxaca; a relationship of the life, work and meaning of Idiáquez, made by Moisés Guzmán Pérez; bibliography, printed records and facsimiles; copies of printed texts; documents from the Oaxacan archives; a new and brief bibliography.
