The old hacienda of Santa Mónica located in the municipality of Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, is surrounded by housing colonies and dwarfed by enormous commercial and social recreation complexes, however it still preserves its architectural grandeur from its golden era. Due to its optimal state of conservation and the documentary wealth of the property, the hacienda lent itself to research in the field of art history, but predominantly to historical and architectural analysis, on which Araceli Peralta Flores focused her study –unlike others, which focus on personal property that has been lost over time–.
