Originally, this work began as a doctoral thesis carried out in the Humanities program of the UAM-I, some partial results have been presented as presentations in different academic forums in Central America and Mexico, but they are presented here for the first time together. This text is essential to know and understand Guatemalan history of the second half of the 20th century. The author gives voice to the different actors who were involved in the rebellion caused by the Cuban Revolution and the repercussions of modernization; likewise, he highlights the role that indigenous people and women had within the guerrilla phenomenon.
