Inspired by the contest held in 2002 and 2003 on the theme of death, the cultural promoters of CELALI present this collection of stories, written in Tsotsil, Tsetsal, Ch’ol, Zoque and Spanish. In these stories, death is seen as a central character with different faces, while reflecting on loss and nostalgia, seen from different perspectives due to the diversity of origins, professions and beliefs of the authors. These texts are deeply nourished by the oral tradition of the native peoples from which these narratives arise and pay homage to the afterlife that lies beyond life.
