The author presents the analysis of a particular case of manifestation of racism in the second half of the 19th century in Mexico, exploring the press of the state of Jalisco and the vision that was had of the Indian. Vázquez analyzes the bases of Mexican racism, demonstrating that, in effect, it is racism, dealing with the fact that in Spain the Crown itself encouraged the image of the native peoples as rustic, barbaric people, far from civilization.
