This story focuses on Dzit Bacalito, a corn of the Dzit Bacal race, a type of white-yellow corn with thin ears, with few rows, and more or less small and toothed grains. This type of corn has been grown for generations in Mexican fields, however it has been displaced by another type of corn called Transgenic, which although it is cheaper to produce and has larger grains, can be harmful to health and have counterproductive effects due to its long-term production. Here the story is told of how Dzit Bacalito and his friends seek to reason with the farmers so that they continue harvesting native corn and not give in to Transgenic.
