The history of the entire continent of Abya Yala is divided by a before and after the arrival of europeans to these lands; from this perspective, the multicultural history of Mexico is not understood from the original settlers, but from the conquerors. In this series of poems the author distinguishes between memory and history; although he does not make an explicit distinction, it is clear that memories are typical of the Mayan people, being the subjects, authors and owners of their narrative, while the story is not necessarily theirs and they do not recognize themselves in it. These poems denounce colonialist oppression, using words, forms and musicality.
