Marco Antonio Campos, with the support of Fernando Tola and Mariana Mendía, collected and transcribed the correspondence between Manuel M. Flores and Rosario de la Peña. The letters that are collected here and published together for the first time –those that were able to be recovered– reveal the passion of the poet from Puebla for the so-called nineteenth-century muse Rosario de la Peña. This relationship was tragic and painful for those involved, since she lived surrounded by admirers, although demanding the presence of her lover; and he lived locked up within the limits imposed by syphilis and progressive blindness.
