In recent years, the National Migration Institute (INM) has promoted different initiatives to define basic elements that will help shape from different perspectives what should constitute an updated and comprehensive immigration policy of the Mexican State. During 2006, the INM dedicated itself to compiling a broad vision of what Mexican immigration policy should be from the perspective of the federative entities, with the preparation of joint texts by the regional migration delegates, border subdelegates, representatives of state governments and some of the local universities.
