The growing migration of nationals, the intensity of income from the south and the permeability of the border are accompanied by the trafficking of weapons, drugs and people, as well as the multiplication of criminal groups and the increase in labor and sexual exploitation of migrants. To respond to this, the Government of Chiapas organized the International Migration Forum in Tuxtla Gutiérrez in April 2006, in order to analyze and discuss various aspects of the migration issue. Some of the topics that were addressed were Migration and interculturality today, Migration and cultural transformations and Migration and development in the era of globalization, among others.
