Product information

The festival of Kólshim dates back to the XVII century when the Jesuits began evangelization in the north of New Spain, in the mountains that make up part of the Sierra Madre Occidental, in the mountain towns of Yepachi and Maycoba; Although its precepts were established by the Jesuits and Franciscans who were in charge of evangelization, once they were expelled in 1767 from the entire kingdom of New Spain, there is sufficient evidence that the Pima were left to their ingenuity to reinvent the drama of the life and death of Jesus. Oseguera-Montiel brings this ethnography to learn about the activities carried out in this celebration, as well as its beginnings and history.
