The artesa dance is a celebrated tradition in the Afro-mestizo communities of Guerrero and Oaxaca. Although just over 50 years ago this tradition was still widespread along the Costa Chica, today there are only two groups that preserve the tradition, which makes it an urgent subject to study. This title includes two phonograms prepared by Carlos Ruiz Rodríguez in collaboration with the artesa musicians of San Nicolás and El Ciruelo, being a product of a broader investigation and which shows the literary and musical repertoire of this genre. In order to complement this research, two CDs with these musical forms are included.
